1905 Great-grandma and Grandma
Some of my most valued possessions are family photographs and military documents dating back to the mid 1800’s. For the most part these treasures have spent decades in a big black chest out in my parents garage. Needless to say, they are starting to fade and literally fall apart. Enter my mom, who at age 75, bought her first computer and learned how to use it. For the past three years she has scanned over a thousand images. I transfered the images onto a flash drive and have been making sure her grandkids and great grandkids have copies. For me these photos are priceless.

If you can, don’t forget to get video of family members talking about the photos and the people in them. A great way to start a family history archive.

Excellent idea… and so simple. You could just set up the camera on a tripod. Use a medium or wide shot of the relative looking at each photo and remembering the moment, then during editing, dissolve in and out of the photos they are talking about. I’ve got a new project. Thanks.
